Residents, workers, visitors and shoppers who park in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters are being encouraged to have their say on the Council’s Draft On-Street Parking Policy.
The Council has developed the Draft On-Street Parking Policy to help manage on-street parking requirements while ensuring it:
- provides fair and equitable access in mixed use zones
- optimises the use of on-street parking to best meet the needs of the precinct
- ensures the management of on-street parking is clear and transparent.
The provision and management of on-street parking also fits in with Council’s Strategic Plan CityPlan 2030.
Mayor Robert Bria said the Draft On-Street Parking Policy has been developed to manage on-street parking needs in the City for residents as well as people who shop, visit and do business.
“Maintaining access to local businesses, services and amenities with convenient on-street parking is absolutely crucial in ensuring the economic growth and liveability of the City.” Mayor Bria said.
“Consultation on the Draft On-Street Parking Policy will guide the Council’s work in implementing effective on-street parking management and help us deliver safer and accessible on-street car parking spaces,” Mayor Bria said.
The Draft On-Street Parking Policy has taken into account a number of factors such as parking demand, location, time limits and signage, traffic flows, and off-street parking options, permit parking and zoned areas.
Consultation on the Draft On-Street Parking Policy will be available for consideration for four weeks from today. Submissions must be received by 5:00 pm on 28 February 2021.
