Asbestos is banned in South Australia, but it still poses a health risk if disturbed during renovations or maintenance.
If your home was built or renovated before 1987, it may contain asbestos—even in brick, fibro, weatherboard or clad homes. Common locations include:
- Under carpets, vinyl and tiles
- Behind walls and ceilings
- In insulation, eaves, garages, fences and sheds
- Around hot water pipes and outdoor structures.
